Cecilian Club to open season with concert

SHAMOKIN - The Cecilian Club open its 109th season with a concert at First United Methodist Church, Shamokin at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The theme of this month's concert is "The Sky's the Limit."

The concert will start with a vocal trio as Beverly Petrovich, Nan Weller and Carolyn Weaver, accompanied by Susan Shoop, sing "I Got the Sun in the Morning" by Berlin. Noriene Ladd will follow with an organ solo, "O Morning Star," by Nicolai. Next will be a vocal ensemble featuring Margaret Schlader, Grace Stank, Mary Hollingshead, Grethel Vinup, Kathi Christ and Mary Anne Miller, accompanied by Weller, sing "Blue Skies" by Berlin.

Philip Maue will present a piano solo, "The Cake Walk in theSky," by Harney. Carol Ellis, accompanied by Ladd, will sing "Come Rain or Come Shine" by Arlen. Next will be a flute and piano duet, as Weller and Bonny Klinger present "Cloudscape" by Bolling.

Nedra Templar will sing "Rainbow Connection" by Ascher. She will accompany herself on folk guitar. Mary Anne Miller will follow with a piano solo, "How High the Moon" by Hamilton and Lewis.

Shoop, Hollingshead, David Kopitsky and Tom Christ, accompanied byVinup, will present "Sing a Rainbow" by Hamilton. The concert will conclude with a piano solo as Vinup plays "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven.

The public is invited to join the club for this concert which is free of charge.
